Exotic probably isn’t the first word that enters your mind when you think about Woodland Hills, Utah. Prepare to be surprised. Within 8 miles of Summit Creek there are three strikingly wonderful hole-in-the-wall restaurants bringing you colorful cuisine from around the world.
The first establishment to try is Tadka Indian Restaurant located in Payson, Utah about 5.5 miles and 9 minutes away from Summit Creek. The head chef and owner of Tadka came from another local favorite (Bombay House in Provo) and the change in location does not disappoint! The servers are knowledgeable and helpful; if you know nothing about Indian food they will guide you to a great order. Even those who don’t prefer Indian have LOVED this dining experience. When you go, don’t be surprised that this restaurant is more about the food than the décor. The flavors and spices of their dished are blended perfectly and their Butter Chicken, Chicken Coconut Karma and Vegetable Samosa’s come most highly recommended.
Secondly, Los 2 Potrillos in Spanish Fork offers a selection of Mexican and Seafood dishes 8 miles and about 12 minutes from Summit Creek. The combination of Mexican and Seafood was a bit confusing to me until I learned that the chef used to run a restaurant in California and his connections allow Los 2 Potrillos fresh, quality seafood. Mystery solved and apprehension of seafood in Spanish Fork subsided. This is the best Mexican in town with quick service, reasonable prices and high quality.
Portions are very large and you almost always bring food home. Chimichangas and Sopas are the most highly recommended and the Tacos are crispy, not soggy, and delightful.
My third suggestion is Oriental Garden located in Salem, Utah only 5.2 miles and about 9 minutes away from the Summit Creek community. Oriental Garden’s original location in Nephi, Utah saw so much success they opened this new, second location in Salem October 2015 and it has swiftly made a splash in the local restaurant scene. This Asian Fusion establishment offers expertly seasoned dishes at relatively inexpensive prices and fast, friendly service. Their Crispy Beef, Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Shrimp and Mushroom Chicken come most highly recommended.
When you think of restaurant options in the area you probably imagine burgers, fries, fry sauce and shakes but these three restaurants do a great job of showing that Utah County has a lot of surprising gems to offer. Make sure to stop by and support these wonderful, local businesses and let us know what you think of them!
